Toe Excision Biopsy Pain

Hello, I'm new to this and I am just wondering if anyone has experience of an excision on the big toe or any toe. I have had many moles off in the past, due to having melanoma a few years ago, but they have all been on my torso. I have been given a foot support boot and told to limit movement and 'heal walk' for two weeks but it's so incredibly painful even when I'm not moving. Has anyone experienced much more intense pain with a foot excision compared to others? Should I have been given crutches? Is two weeks long enough to recover? I cannot stay stationary for two weeks, I'm going mad after one day. Thanks

  • Hi siosio,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear that this is causing so much pain. I realise it's been a couple of days since you posted, so hopefully the level of pain is due to the recency of the procedure and I hope that it is beginning to ease slightly by now. Naturally the toes (especially the big toe) carry a lot of the weight when moving around, so it is understandable that it is so painful. If however you feel that it's not improving in line with the advice they gave you, or that you are unable to do your necessary tasks, give your doctor a call to find out about the crutches option.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Thank you, I have called my doctor today and will be seen on Wednesday. It's still incredibly painful but they have said no to crutches and have just said to limit movement. Hopefully it heals fast, I hope I never have any future surgeries on my foot as the pain is unbearable, thanks again.
