Biopsy results with breast surgery team? What does that mean

Had a core needle biopsy a few weeks ago in breast and armpit. Received a text yesterday to say come in on Monday. Received a letter and it says it's with a consultant on breast surgery. I've not been told if it's cancer or not yet but why have I been assigned to surgery? Anyone experienced this before?

  • Hi there, I'm really sorry to hear this. I remember posting about the exact same thing a month or so ago. I had my core biopsies and a few weeks letter received a letter for an appointment breast surgery clinic. I rang and queried it several times as I was still awaiting further stereotactic biopsies at that time. Every time I rang I got a different response leading me to think I had cancer and then that I didn't. In the end I was advised to speak to a breast care nurse, which I did. In my case it was cancer, but I'm also aware different hospitals refer to their clinics differently and that some benign lumps also need to be removed. If you're really worried, you can do what I did and ring, but be warned that they don't always tell you over the phone. Just realised your appointment is Monday, so no scope for phoning.  My latest results I had to wait for my appointment to get. Try not to worry before your appointment (I know that's really difficult). Best of luck to you and here if you want to chat again. Hugs Mickey x

  • Hi they might want to discuss removal with you, despite it being benign (non cancerous) as this happened to my sister. Xx

  • Hi, hope you're ok - just wondering how you got on? Hugs Mickey
