Need good news stories. Lump and lymph biopsy

I'm feeling really concerned and could really do with some good news and outcomes stories please.

I found a small lump near my right nipple. I went to the GP who said it was small, movable and smooth and these were good signs. As there was a slight dent she ageeed to refer me to the breast clinic.

I had my appointment today. On physical exam the consultant said they could feel the lump but they thought it was a cyst but would scan it anyway.

At the ultrasound things changed. The radiologist said the lump is not a cyst but she could not confirm what it was so had to do a biopsy. It could be a papilloma or other things (I have a papiloma in the other breast). She also said I had a nodule in one lymph node and that needed biopsy too. The nurse said not to panic and that it was really small.

Then the consultant saw me again and said they cannot tell me what it was either way and needed the biopsy results.

I feel like it's bad news. Is it bad that they took one from my lymph node too? Has anybody had this and had a benign outcome? You hear lymph node and worry it is bad I think?

I really need some reassurance from others to help keep my mind calm please!

  • Hi Worriedgirl2021,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand this must be unsettling and I know that any uncertainty or waiting for information is difficult. I know it's easier said than done but try not to assume anything at this point. It sounds like they are being careful and thorough with their investigations and it's normal to have to wait for results of a biopsy to know anything.

Hopefully it won't be too much longer for you to wait for your results.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
