Hi everyone
4 months ago, I went for a routine mammogram and was recalled for further tests. They had found a lump (which I couldn't feel) and did an ultrasound and 3 needle biopsies. While the imaging was concerning (M3 and U4) the biopsies came back as inconclusive (B2).
Due to the biopsy results being out of line with the imaging, I had to have 4 more core needle biopsies. Again, they came back with no cancer cells, but the consultant remained concerned. I've now had a surgical excision biopsy so they can look at the whole thing in the lab.
After the op, the surgeon told me that it would be 2 weeks for results. However, that was over 3 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything. I phoned the breast cancer nurse and she told me that results are taking 5-6 weeks at present! It will be over 5 months of waiting to find out by the time that I hear. Everyone else seems to be getting results so much more quickly. This is really difficult and is taking its toll on my wellbeing. I'm tense, anxious and unable to sleep properly.
I don't think there is anything I can do other than stick it out for another 3 weeks, as it sounds like all patients at our hospital are in the same boat. But any tips on how I can try to relax my mind in the meantime?
