    Hi Positive,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

You have done the right thing in consulting your GP. What did s/he have to say when you say you? Not all lumps are malignant and, the younger you are, the less likely that this will be the case. There are many positive stories with lumps, which often turn out to be benign cysts, fibrous or hormonal changes.

Please remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Jolamine

thank-you for the reply I think she seen how anxious I was and has referred me via the red flag system. It feels like a grape it is soft etc but I know it could still be malignant.

The Doc said it is quite possibly a fatty lump does that mean that it will require a biopsy?

I am just nervous for the tests etc they will carry out...

    I appreciate the support xo

  • Hello to all, wishing you the best.

In October I felt a good size lump under my arm pit ,three months after my second jab with astra zeneca.

I dont know whether it grew up unnoticed since there was no pain involved at the time at all. The lump has been grown up to a 11cm size and it hurts after biopsy done recently. I am having a CT in a few days , while still waiting from the lab the biopsy report. The lump its on the right hand side and not where I received the jabs. I hope its a reaction to the vaccinne and not anything more. I am over 60 years old with a few minor health issues. My wife is worried more than me but at the end of the day, I want to know what is really triggered it and have it treated asap. Finnally , there is no family history associated with cancer and my diet its not unhealthy. I wish I had it discovered it earlier on.

Thank you for posting all the positive thoughts here.

    Hi Positive,

It is just as well that your GP is being cautious. Most of us are referred via the 'urgent 2 week' pathway, so don't worry about that. It is a good sign that it is still soft. Whether or not you need a biopsy will probably be decided upon by the results of your scans. You are unlikely to have a mammogram, because breasts in people under 40 tend to be too dense to give a clear picture. A  CT scan is very straightforward and painless. If you need a biopsy, you will be given a local anaesthetic to numb the area, before a needle-like device is inserted to take a small sample of tissue away.

These tests are all very simple and doable, so there realy is nothing to worry about. If your consultant is happy that this is a fatty lump, s/he may not bother with a biopsy. Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for support whenever you need us.

  • Hi Jolamine

I am 25 I thought I would maybe get a ultrasound and then a needle biopsy. Is a CT scan usually what they do I wasn't too aware of what they needa do etc.

any ideas how I can stop panicking??

    very warm regards xox

    Hi Positive,

Sorry, I meant to say ultrasound and not CT.  A CT is something that some people get later if the US is not as clear as it needs to be. You will usually have a chat with your consultant, then a physical examination. If the consultant is happy that there is nothing untoward, you may be discharged straight away. If s/he finds a lump , then you may have an ultrasound. Depending upon the outcome of the ultrasound, you may then have a biopsy.

If I knew how to stop you panicing, then I would bottle it. We all get into a terrible state at this stage. Emotional stress, plenty of tears and fear are all common denominators. Try to keep yourself busy to help the time to pass. Do you have any pastines that might help to fill the waiting time? It is difficult to concentrate on anything else at present and, we all tend to dwell on the worst case scenario. Whatever you do, steer clear of google, as this will only scare you further.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi, I was interested you noted your vaccine. Trying not to cause a conspiracy theory but also going through something similar. I had my second jab at the end of August (Pfizer jab) at approx 7.30pm - I woke up the next morning with severe shoulder pain and it's been downhill from there. I've tried physio and all sorts and it didn't go away so then checked my left breast a couple of weeks ago and found a lump.  Fast forward to this week and I have now got what the radiologist thinks is many breast cysts in my left breast around the outer area and towards my armpit. I also have an armpit lump along with shoulder pain and arm pain. I have no history of any kind of health issues or breast problems. It has made me wonder whether these issues have developed from the jab. Similar to you my diet is not unhealthy, I am fairly active, I do have a family history of cancers on my mums side but my mum is fit and well.

  • Hi Jolamine

Im just off the phone to the breast clinic and they have downgraded my red flag referral to a routine referral

Is that good news? Or is it because they are so busy

  •

    Hi Positive,

This usually happens when there is no particular concern, but it can take a lot longer to get an appointment. It's good news that they have downgraded you, but bad that you'll have longer to wait. Did the clinic say how long you were likely to have to wait?
