test results procedure concern

Hello everyone..

My problem is minuscule compared to a lot of people but I am just curious how the test results procedure works for the NHS I was surprised to have been quickly referred for a testicular ultrasound and I went yesterday and they said it looked normal but were a little vague.. Anyway I have had the test results come back to the surgery and they sent me a message to discuss the results and please do not be concerned.. Well obviously I am because it all seems a bit quick? So obviously I am worried and I am wondering if I should take their word for it regarding "do not be concerned"

Does anyone know the guidelines in the test results procedure ?

Thank you

Ben

  • Hey Ben and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

From what you've mentioned in your post it sounds like your doctor may have requested an urgent referral for your ultrasound. If that's the case and you're based in England then usually the target is to be seen within two weeks.

The wait times for appointments and results in some parts of the country have been impacted by the pandemic but some are catching up with the backlogs they had and it may be that your part of the country may be back on top of things, which is great to hear.

It's easy for the mind to over think things like this but if you can, try to see it as a positive as it means you won't have to wait long for your results.

Hopefully some of our members will share their experiences with you soon but if you feel it may help to talk things through with one of our nurses then do give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Fingers crossed your results bring good news Ben.

    All the best,
