Vulval cancer

Hi I have had some problems in my vulva area and I was seen by a gynaecologist earlier this year. I had felt a small lump but this had almost gone by the time of my appointment. I do have a "mole" that my GP pointed out but the gynaecologist didn't think it was anything to worry about. But recently I have had a swollen bartholin gland which burst but is still there and I have a discharge too from my vagina. The GP has taken a swab. I feel very anxious about the mole and I have since found another one. I would like to have a biopsy of the mole to put my mind at ease. I am thinking about going privately to get this as it has not been mentioned by any health professionals that I have seen so far. Do you think this is something I should do or am I overreacting!!!

  • Hi Birmingham31,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It sounds as if you may be waiting for further results - if so you should hopefully get an appointment to get these and at this point you could again discuss the moles and see if the doctor feels it is a cause for concern or not. If you're not satisfied after this, you could ask for a second opinion. These may be better routes to try initially, and then it will be up to you if you decide to get a private opinion or not.

    Wishing you all the best,
