Lymph node in armpit

Hi

I've never posted on one of these forums before but I've read many of them!

bit of a long story...

I had a baby boy 3 months ago, when he was 6 days old I had my Covid jab and then shortly after had 2 bouts of mastitis in my left breast. Since then I noticed a small lump in my left armpit, it's small soft (according to the doctor) and moves. The first doctor said it was a reactive lymph node wait 4 weeks and see if it goes down, it didn't. Next doc said she thought it was nothing to worry about, come back in 2 weeks. I saw a doctor last week who could see how emotional and anxious I was about it so has referred me to the hospital for a scan on Thursday this week. She thought it was nothing to worry about too, but could see how anxious I was, she even suggested it could feel bigger because I'm quite thin.

I am absolutely terrified! I go from being rational to being completely overwhelmed and emotional about it. I'm sad for my kids in case it is something, and I feel silly because I'm such a mess and I don't know what to do with myself!

sorry I just needed to get that out!

edited to add that I do suffer from health anxiety especially since losing my mum 2 years ago.

  • Hi Eben24,

Sorry to read how anxious you've been regarding the lump in your arm pit. A lot of body changes going on after having your baby which could be the cause but interestingly when I went for my routine mammogram, they asked which arm had received the COVID jab. I asked why this was relevant and she said the vaccine can cause lymph nodes to swell.

You are being referred so i hope you get some reassurance. It's highly unlikely to be cancer so try not to worry.

    Best wishes

    Jane xx
