Large Lump & 2 Week Referral

Hi! Im really looking for some support or someone in a similiar situation. I discovered a large rubbery lump in the top of my right breast. Its literally as the breast goes from bone to breasdt tissue, it gives a defined sausage like lump from the outside and i can almost grab the mass with the my hand. I called the GP to make an apt and they dismissed me with a telephone apt, told me im too young for it to be anything sinister and it was probably hormonal. This really threw me and made me feel like i was over reacting. After it still being there the following week i called the GP and demanded a face to face apt in which the doctor went straight to the lump looked and me and told me he would reffer me to breast clinic, whilst asking me if i had any history of cancer in my family. As a mum of two and only 29, i am in absolute bits, i cant think of anything else :(

Anyone with similiar type of lump or in 2WW please get in touch

  • Hi, I completely understand how you must be feeling. Our minds always jump to the worst case scenario, and we torture ourselves. When I was your age I had a few large lumps as you describe and was referred to the breast clinic. These turned out to be harmless cysts but they felt huge and where the shape you describe.

Please be assured at the breast clinic the staff are wonderful and should be able to tell you there and then whether this is something to be concerned about. 9 out of 10 referrals to the breast clinic are benign conditions or nothing at all so try not to worry. Whatever the outcome you will be well looked after by the amazing staff doctors and nurses in our NHS.

    Best wishes
