Hi, never been here before but would like some opinions. About a month ago I began to get very constipated where as I am usually the other way. Went to my GP who said to do a blood test and FIT test and put me on Laxido for a month if required. The Laxido seems to be helping but sometimes the stools are very narrow, other times normal size. Anyway, bloods came back all fine except for raised Ferritin but it has been rasied before and no action was taken. Normal blood count so that was good to know. My own doctor is away so another doctor called me to say he was refering me under the two week pathway as I had constipation and raised Ferritin. Also for a scan of abdomin. I asked him to wait for the result of the FIT test but he said no. Result of that has come in now and is normal. In the mentime had my consultation with the specialist last week who examined my stomach, did the finger inside the back passage and even a camera inside the anus , all okay. She hsd booked me for a colonoscopy anyway, seeing as i am 72. Thing is i know i cannot drink a vast quantity of liuquid for the prep. I am only 4ft 11 and cannot even finish a can of coke in one sitting. I really don;t think I can do this esopecially as all my tests have come back normal except the raised Ferritin but I know that can be raised by any amount of things such as athritis, which i have, high blood pressure and tummy fat which i have, and certainly a huge amount of stress. I am making mysekf ill worrying about having this prep, not the proceedure itself so do i have it done? I will have the tummy scan although i have absolutly no symptoms for anything to do with liver or kidney function and they came back normal in. blood test. I have had IBS in the past and wonderd if this is a bad prologed case. I also have Tenemus some days again this can be from IBS or constipation. I am about to stop the Laxido and see if the constipation comes bck but in the meantime any words of wisdom very much appreciated. Thanks.
