Finger length lump on back

My brother is 64,heavy smoker, has had check up at gp,a significant finger length lump on his back needs looking at. He had noticed it for over a year but not had it looked at.

Anyone have experience of this? He has been feeling tired,below par, some pain in back.im worried for him.

If its a round lump that moves around it could be a lypoma fatty tissues that are filled with a substance that looks like cream cheese which when extracted the lump disappears but of course a doctor will need to check that it isnt something else hope that helps by the way some lypoma can increase in size over time

Thankyou for replying ,yes hoping it is something like that you describe,
it sounds like it is big ,he has mentioned not liking his back shape but hadnt mentioned before it was a lump!
He has agreed for it to be looked at ,will post once we know

Appreciate your support and interest, my brother lives central london not nearby,I live Anglesey, so it's hard being on his own.
