Pain during and after coil removal and biopsy inside uterus

Hi everyone, I'm new on here, hope you all getting the support you require.

Anyone had biopsy taken from inside uterus? Wondered how long it takes for pain to subside? Still throbbing 3 days on?

I went dr last monday, with bright red blood spotting (no more since) .

I'm post menopausal so odd. I had had a sharp pain a few days previous cleaning the floor of our car, knew Coil was still in me (I know should have been removed years ago) - so dr attempted to remove it there and then  , but cords snapped off!

I was sent 5 days later to a gyni clinic , had uterine internal scan, coil removed by Consultant v painful and unexpectedly biopsies taken! V painful - no pain relief for these procedures, seems so wrong! It was excruciating! I did ask Consultant she said pain relief too painful!

  • Welcome to the forum Katmarie although I'm sorry you're still having some pain since having your coil removed.

Unfortunately I can't answer your question but our friendly team of cancer nurses should be able to help so if you'd like to have a quick chat with them about this then do give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Mondat - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of our members who have had this procedure will share their experiences with you soon as well but in the meantime, keep an eye on it and if things don't improve or get worse then do get in touch with your GP.

    Kind regards,

  • Thankyou so much for getting back to me,glad to say the pain eased off on 4th day.

would have been good to be given a leaflet & to have known the biopsies were to be taken ,with a choice of pain relief.
