Hi all
I had a breast biopsy on Friday. This was following a recall from a routine mammogram (third mammogram, third recall). The area they are looking at was on the last mammogram. At that point they went away and had a meeting and decided all was okay, I got a phone call the same day to tell me this. I'm not 100% sure what the recall was for the first mammogram 6 years ago, but again, I was given the all clear.
When I had the recall this time the doctor couldn't find anything on the ultra-sound or by feeling. I asked her what she thought it was and she said she didn't know. On Friday the consultant who did the biopsy said it was the same area as before but there were very slight changes, that's why they had done a biopsy. They have also put a marker in.
I get my results on the 9th and am able to go to breast unit at my local hospital rather than the large screening centre.
Like anyone in this situation I am terrified. Occasionally positive, mostly crippled with anxiety. I am thinking about my parents who are very elderly and need my help, my business (I'm self employed). my husband and grown up children. I wasn't going to tell anyone about the recall at first, but as it was on a day that it was difficult for me not to be at work I had to. I've now told all my friends and family, it seemed easier for all to know and they are being very positive.
To be fair no one has said what it might be, just that it needs further investigation now. I am extra worried as this area has been there for over 3 years at least, maybe 6, as that was the first recall.
Sorry to ramble on, it seems to help putting it down in writing.
xx
