A biopsy on neck!

Hi everyone , I really need some advice.

I have a lump in the left side of my neck and due to my symptoms and it going on for months my GP referred me to ENT to rule out any cancer , he said I needed a biopsy doing! To find out if it's cancer or what sort of infection is my body fighting! 

I went to my appointment as planned and the ENT consultant said yes there's a lump there but we can't just do a biopsy! Even though I explained my gps concerns and how unwell I've been feeling.

I came out of my appointment really upset as I turned up to my appointment expecting tests and a biopsy to rule out this illness I've been dealing with for 8 months! 
I feel like I've been let down again! And I'm so worried for my health

    Hi Lauren, 

    Im not too good with advice but I'd say to go back to the GP and reitterate your concearns, then push for the biopsy.

    Im going through something similar right now, ive had a swollen lymph node on my neck since july, its now november tomorrow. when i went to the ENT my GP said i would have scans to check it, but the ENT just felt it and said it's fine. I was expecting the scans, just as you were expecting the biopsy and I feel let down as i wanted proof that it was non cancerous. I now have another one that has popped up on my groin so going back to GP tomorrow. Wish they'd just scan me and give me some definite reassurance of what it is rather than brushing it off! Google is always telling me i have lymphoma/ leukemia when i try and search explanations and its driving me CRAZY! Comforting to know people are in similar situations though as I feel less alone and in the dark. Hope your lump is fine! Sure it will be :)

    Bless you , I'm so sorry you are experiencing the same thing as me it's horrible isn't it! May I ask what your symptoms are if you have any please ? I've been feeling very unwel with it too

    It is horrible having no answers and feeling pushed aside. im only 17 as well so i feel like doctors dont take me seriously. and yes, basically i had bad jaw and ear pain for 2 months alongside the neck lymph node. but now thats gone and the node is still there. and then i got an awful cold and conjunctivitis from the cold, which made all my glands painful but that seems to have gone. i just feel tired a lot and run down. thats it though. i have the groin lymph node now but it was tender and is soft so im hoping it goes !! no other symptoms with that though. i also had a blood test at the hospital the other week due to something else unrelated but my blood came back all fine so hopefully i am fine ! . what have your symptoms been if you dont mind me asking? X

    Sorry it took so long to respond.

    it started with feeling very tired , lethargic , I kept feeling hot all of the time . Then a few months back I noticed the lump in the side of my neck / gland .

    i just have no energy all of the time! My bloods have also come back normal :( I'm hoping my ultrasound Thursday will push for the biopsy! I'm really fed up of feeling like this and I have a 1 year old son to look after

    Oh bless you,

    i was at the doctors today and got my lymph nodes checked again, she said its a good sign to have other symptoms with the lumps as it suggests they were brought on by a virus or infection. somwtimes nodes just dont go back down after. hopefully this is whats caused yours but im no doctor haha so if i was you id just get it rechecked and a second opinion then it will put your mind at ease :)
