Diarrhoea and cont symptoms a week after clear colonoscopy

Had a colonoscopy a week ago. It was excruciating and dr put on report that I have a super sensitive and floppy colon. Luckily though all clear.

However, I now have diarrhoea and very bad gas (which results in more diarrhoea) which wasn't an issue I had previously. I had unusual, frequent movement and some blood. Is the diarrhoea a week after common?

More concerning to me is that my other symptoms continue and I feel so ill. I had thought perhaps it was linked to my bowels but now I don't know what might be the issue. The consultant is likely going to just discharge me as the procedure was clear.

I wonder if anyone else has had similar symptoms...?...

I have pain in my lower left back/ upper hip, left high abdomen pain which radiates through to my back and sometime to my left shoulder. Sometimes my ribs feel like they are squeezing me, I have to undo my bra strap and I have the most horrid sensation / discomfort in my upper abdomen/chest area. The back pains are pretty consistent day and night although ease a little in some positions but the weird discomfort and feeling unwell builds through the day. I can't stand up for very long at all by the afternoon. Anyone else experienced this?

  • Hi laurash,

I'm sorry to hear of your continued difficulties. It sounds like you may have an opportunity to speak to your consultant again as you mention that you haven't yet been discharged. If this is the case, talk things through with them and explain your concerns and that the issues are ongoing.

If not, it will be your doctor who will be best placed to advise. It's of course important that you get answers and relief, so keep asking the questions until you are able to get things sorted.

    Wishing you all the best,
