Sessile polyp found in colonoscopy

Hello. Just after some advice. My husband had a colonoscopy today. When I collected him he told me that the DR had told him that there was a small polyp but was not removed as it was flat. When arriving home I lookked at the discharge notes and they say sesille polyp taken for biopsy. To wait for pathology report.

I'm so confused by this as that is not what was communicated to my husband.

Silly question but should I be worried about this type of polyp.

  • Hi im mike new here it sounds sinister but usually not polyps are quite usual like a cyst and can be successfully removed very few on occassions are found to be cancer but its a rare possibility

  • Thanks Mike. I suppose all we can do it wait for pathology results. I have googled and it does say it's unlikely to be cancerous so that's made me feel better.  Just seems strange that they told him different information.

His symptoms have been quite bad and as much as I'm Soo happy nothing bad has come back, we still don't have answers. I can't see a small polyp causing the issues he has had.
