Really worried

Hi

I just want to let someone who'll understand how worried I am.

I don't want to worry my family as there may be nothing to tell but this week I had an examination and was put on the two week pathway for an ultrasound tomorrow for suspected ovarian cancer.

Im late 50s and I have had pain in the left side  of my lower back (pelvis) for over a month. I just thought it was a back ache. The pain is now at the front lower left where the ovaries etc are.

i haven't had sex for over 5 years as my partner isn't interested so don't know if it would hurt during sex but the examination hurt and pressing down on my abdomen did too.

im just so beside myself with worry that it will be advanced ovarian cancer. I can't concentrate or do anything and I don't want to upset anyone by sharing this.

Hopefully just writing this will make me feel better but if anyone is reading this, thank you.

Best wishes to all x

  • Hello and welcome to Cancer Chat!

By now you will probably already have had your ultrasound scan and I hope that everything went well and that you won't have to wait too long for results. Try not to assume the worst as there are so many other things it could be other than advanced ovarian cancer. It's normal that you are finding it hard to concentrate during this long waiting game but the best thing to do is to try and focus on other things if you can, keeping busy and distracted as much as possible. Avoid looking anything up online if you can as this will only make you more anxious and only brings up the worst case scenario.

It might be helpful to read this page which contains helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news.

Don't worry you are not upsetting anyone by sharing this - many of our members will have been through a similar situation before and I hope they will be along shortly to share their experience with you.

I am keeping everything tightly crossed for you that it all turns out to be fine!

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Lucie

Thank you so much for your kind words. Fortunately the woman who did the ultrasound reassured me that my ovaries looked fine but found two calcified fibroids in my womb that are most likely causing such pain.

Thank you for being there just when I needed some reassurance. I really appreciate it and am grateful for how fortunate I am.

Good luck and kind thoughts to all. Xxx
