Mole

Hi,

Needing some help. I noticed my Dad had a bath and he didn't have a top on and he has a mole that looks very jagged doesn't look symmetrical. I haven't mentioned it to him I don't know how to say it to him that maybe he could see someone for it but I don't not want to bring it up incase its cancerous for him. Does anyone know how I can bring the subject up as I find things like this very uncomfortable to speak about.

Thank you so much

  • Hello alexf15,

It's so nice that you are concerned about your dad and that you want to make sure he is ok and that his mole gets checked out. It can be difficult to bring up the subject but it's definitely important that it gets looked at so that if there is anything concerning about it, it can be treated very quickly. I think the best policy here is honesty. You could gently tell your dad that you happened to notice that mole and you could ask him whether he has ever talked to someone about it given its asymetrical shape. You could reassure him that a simple GP visit will be enough and the doctor will be able tell him straight away whether his mole needs to be looked at by a specialist or if it is nothing to worry about.

It can be hard to bring up the subject especially if your dad happens to be reluctant to getting these things looked at. But I am sure that you will find the right words and that you will be able to talk to him about this knowing that you are doing this for his own good and with his best interests at heart.

I hope he decides to go and see the doctor to get this mole quickly looked at.

    Best wishes,
