Pain in right breast and armpit.

Hiya just looking to see if anyone has had anything similar and what it ended up being.

About 3 weeks ago I started getting a pain in my right breast it wasn't overly painful but just constantly there. A week later I did come on my period so put it down to that. I'm now 5 days off my period and the pain has come back again and this time it's gone into my arm pit and also feels at times like a stinging sensation?

I am a awful googler so I have worked myself up even worse reading things online! Only difference in the past few months is in September I had the copper coil fitted and my last period was my first period since that. But the copper coil has no hormones so I wouldn't see now that would be related?

any information would be great! Thankyou.

  • Hello soph1991m,

A warm welcome to Cancer Chat. You've got it spot on, reading things online and searching for symptoms on Google will inevitably make you more anxious as it always tends to bring up the worst case scenario.

What you should do for peace of mind if you haven't done so already is talk to your GP about this pain in your right breast and your armpit and to explain all the details to your doctor, that it feels at times like a stinging sensation. You could also ask the doctor whether any of this could be related to you having the copper coil fitted. So don't hesitate to discuss this with your GP and I am sure they will be able to tell you what may be causing this pain and whether it has anything to do with the copper coil.

Best of luck with your appointment and best wishes,

  • How did you go on? Sorry just reading this as I have the same symptoms, without the coil. Thanks.

  • Similar thing for me but I have a coil was refitted about 8 weeks ago and noticed pain about 3/4 weeks ago - I went for mammogram today so just waiting for results now xx have u not been to the dr ? Xx

  • Hi I had a stinging burning pain in my right breast. I’m 44 gp said hormonal pain, it’s not I knew it wasn’t. No lumps managed to get referred. The consultant also couldn’t feel anything but mammogram picked up microcalcifications. I had to have a biopsy, I literally just had results today and it’s benign wooo so relieved. But go get checked u know what’s right for you
