Colon cancer similar symptoms?

I'm 16 and since October 2020 I get on and off blood in poo in small amounts, i then started to get pain in lower right abdomen and went to doctors in March 2021. I did 2 FIT tests and 2 blood tests over a few months and all came back normal but I still get small amounts of blood and pain rarely. No weight loss, nausea or appetite loss. I'm still not fully convinced, anyone else have these same symptoms?

  • I would say at your age and with two FIT tests that came back normal, cancer would be VERY unlikely.

I am 41, so nearly three times your age and over the summer, had some rectal bleeding, occasional loose stools (maybe once a week), some weight loss and some trapped wind. The specialist told me that at my age, the chance of cancer was very, very low, that colon cancer mostly affects older people. He said IBD was more likely, but was still not that likely in my case.

There are many things that can cause blood in your stool, from IBD to hemorrhoids or a little cut somewhere. You can find charts and stuff online giving the number of people with various symptoms who are diagnosed with colon cancer and for under 50s with rectal bleeding and abdominal pain, it is very low. I know the internet isn't the most reliable but still.
