Concerned about cervical cancer

Hi... I've been to the doctors today with concerns over a number of symptoms, watery discharge with a bad odour (had all infection swabs checked and all clear) this has been going on for four months but more recently I have lower back pain, leg and pelvis pain and more recently sex has become so painful! I just don't feel right!
so doctor had me in and out and had blood tests and mentioned a possible scan.... I've come out more concerned that ever

just wish he had explained things a little more of the next stages.... any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks x

  • I know I'm so annoyed. I have now got the number for my local gynaecologist assessment unit so I am going to call them tomorrow and see what they say. I have also been trying to contact the local sexual health clinic seen as my doctor's has a waiting list to remove coil, so hopefully I can get that out ASAP to see if the symptoms settle.

apparently if it's the coil the symptoms will stop as soon as it's removed! Well why aren't they rushing that through for me to confirm or eliminate that reason

I really appreciate your support. I will let you know how I get on tomorrow. Xxx

  • I really hope you can get answers today and be seen, if only to put your mind at rest. Keep me posted! xx

  • Hi, just jumping on this thread as also feeling quite concerned. I've been having intermittent pain/ cramping across my lower left abdomen/ pelvis since January. I can get bloated and feel awful with it. The pain can be quite intense and doesn't seem to correlate with my period/ ovulation. Also doesn't seem to be related to diet or any bowel issues. My period cycles have increased in length and I'm now starting to get leg ache on the left side. I am HR-HPV+ and had a colposcopy in June which confirmed CIN1. I'm now convinced they missed something and I actually may have cervical cancer further up the cervical canal. I get anxious about my health as I've had lots of tragedy within my family and a rough few years. I'm seeing the gynae next week but felt a bit fobbed off the last time I was there (literally in and out in a few minutes). I'm not sure what to do. I'm 33 and desperate to start a family but would love to know the source of this pain in case it's something more serious. @minska you have given so much wonderful advice to people on here and I hope you are well. Thanks.

  • Hi Totoro

It’s good you have a gynae appointment coming up, and hopefully this will give you some more answers. They should examine your cervix while you’re there. I appreciate that you had a colposcopy in June identifying the CIN1, but it is always possible that there is something else going on-although I am not at all suggesting that you may have cancer. If you are suffering from anxiety about your health, this will not be helping as it can magnify any symptoms and it all becomes a vicious circle. Many ladies do report symptoms with CIN1, but others don’t have any. Hopefully your appointment will put your mind at rest. x

  • Thanks Minska. Feel I am doing all I can just really struggle with the not knowing and what ifs. The other thought is endometriosis but the pain doesn't necessarily correlate with my period. Interesting that some people experience symptoms with CIN1. I've been taking supplements to try and help clear the virus but I must have had it for at least 8 years as that's how long I've been with my partner for. Thanks for your rational words of advice, hopefully I get some clarity soon.

  • Hiii,

how did you get on at gynaecologist?

I'm still in the same boat. I am back at the doctors this afternoon after being seen 2 weeks ago and they decided to treat me for PID. I've now been on antibiotics for 2 weeks and still have symptoms and tests come back negative so they want to see me today ‍♀️ Go knows what they will suggest next...

I also had my coil removed and I did get a little relief from the pelvic pain but didn't go away and now it's back to affecting me daily!

    had enough! xxx

  • Hey,

Saw the gynae this morn. She's put me on the waiting list for a laparoscopy. My pain is left sided and intermittent. The main is more regularly but can disappear for a week here and there. I explained I was worried it could be cervical as I have HPV and CIN1 but she doesnt think the pain is related to that and didn't look at my cervix. She thinks it might be endometriosis. Not sure whether I should've pushed her to look at my cervix but I suppose I should trust that she would if she was concerned. I hope you're okay and great they are exploring more things. Perhaps they'll list you for a colonoscopy or further scans. No matter what I'm sure they'll get to the bottom of it. Just keep advocating for yourself and shouting up if you're in pain. Let me know how you get on. Take care.
