First Time

Hi All

I am new here...so hey!

I recently have been having some breast pain on my the outer area of my left breast and near armpit. My GP said no lumps and there is no family history. I am 41. I had a routine referral to breast clinic but got a cancellation. They examined me ( no lumps) and did a mammogram ( first time). This was sixteen days ago. I have now received a letter to go back on Monday to the general breast surgery clinic with no explanation.

GP has received no results.

I feel rather anxious! The pain remains and the best way I can describe it is if when breastfeeding the baby had slept longer than usual and I felt pain and discomfort.

Should I be concerned about being called back?

    Hi Frankie,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear about your anxiety. It normally takes 1-2 weeks to get the results of a mammogram and, it sounds as if this is an appointment for you to get your results. Most surgeons like to give these to the patient in person, so hopefully there's nothing to worry about. Breast pain seldom accompanies breast cancer and it seems as if all the doctors who have examined you were not too concerned that there might be anything untoward.

I sincerely hope that all turns out well for you. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
