Frustration and extremely distressed

I have been for months with abdominal tests but scans and endoscopy came negative. My pains are increasing going to my chests, no appetite, can't bend. In the A&E sent me home and have to wait. I am now waiting for privte mri.

All my symptoms is pancratic cancer who now spread as I have these new pains in my back and chests and I can't eat. I am frustrated and want to die. I can't function from the pains. I don't want to live as I feel I am dying and witnessed my deterioration over a period of nine months. I hope it comes as I sleep, can't take it anymore.

  • I'm so, so, sorry about the pain you're having Kalw but I'm glad you sought medical advice from A&E.

I hope they were able to prescribe you something for the pain but if not, do get in touch with your GP and let them know how much this is impacting you, both physically and mentally.

You mentioned that you have had an MRI and that the results came back negative. Paying privately for a second MRI won’t give you a different result as you would be using the same machine and it is very expensive to pay privately to use them.

It's easy to assume the worse when you spend a lot of time on the Internet or on forums like Cancer Chat, but contending with persistent symptoms such as those you've mentioned are more likely to be a sign of health anxiety.

Health anxiety can be very physically and emotionally demanding but there are many organisations that can help. The NHS have some useful tips and advice for managing health anxiety on their website and the charity Anxiety UK have some excellent resources and information on DIY self-diagnosis. They also have a helpline where you can speak to someone who is experienced in dealing with these issues but for those times of the day or night when you're feeling overwhelmed, struggling to cope or having suicidal thoughts, please give the Samaritans a call. They are available on 116 123, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and are there to listen and support anyone who is having a difficult time.

I hope you’re able to find out what's causing this pain but thankfully your results have come back negative for cancer so it is really important that you spend some time away from the forum as spending time here may actually be fuelling your anxiety.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
