BCC Worries

Hi

Just looking for a bit of help from experience in relation to BCC.

I got very sunburnt in July and the next day noticed what I thought was a spot under my nose with a tiny black dot in it. I have picked and picked it and thought that is why it was not going away until I thought it is now October and normally even if I pick a spot it has gone by now.  So I googled spot that will not go away and read about BCC.

I booked the Drs straight  away and when my appointment came she didn't mention BCC until I said I had read about it and then agreed she did think it looked like BCC (I sent her a picture).

She said she would refer me to the hospital, the hospital called the next day and booked me an appointment for 11th November. On getting the appointment through the post i discovered it will be over the phone?!

Not sure how dermatologist can diagnose this over the phone and if they do think it is BCC then another long wait for an actual appointment?!

Stupidly when I was younger I had lots of sunbeds as am fair skinned and probably burnt myself every week under sunbeds.

Also now looking back at pictures on my phone last night I have now noticed that black dot was there in Sept 2020 over a year ago.

Am so worried and concerned of how bad it might be and how bigger scar I could have. I know it sounds selfish but I don't go out as it is at the moment as I have put on weight if I have a huge scar I know I will be a complete recluse, just feel so down/scared/worried all at once ️

Thank you for reading xx

  • Welcome to the forum NikkiGxx although I'm sorry about the worries you have playing on your mind about BCC.

I know this must be scary but you took the right course of action and it won't be long before you get to speak with a specialist. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long afterwards to be seen in person but whilst you wait try not to jump to any conclusions or worse case scenarios until you know more. Always easier said than done I know but I hope the tips and advice given in this article on how to cope with waiting for news will help you through this anxious time.

Our community are here for you Nikki and hopefully some of our members who have been in this position will offer their thoughts, support and advice to you soon.

    Kind regards,
