6 months after cervical biopsy...not healing?

Hello all,

I am new to the forum and wanted some advice. I've had a terrible introduction to cancer in the last 18 months as I lost my dear Dad to lung cancer in March 2021.

I got my routine smear and had to go for a colposcopy in April 2021. I had a cervical biopsy taken and found out in May I have CIN1. All fine. However my recovery from the biopsy has been horrendous. I take transexamic acid for my heavy periods for the first 5 days of the cycle which usually help but since the biopsy my periods have been so heavy.

3 weeks after the biopsy I developed an infection and took 2 courses of antibiotics which cleared it. However I'm 6 months since and I'm still having black discharge during intercourse and bad clotting which doesn't seem normal to me. I had my period for 9 days last week, and after the period the discharge became so bad and it's still happening and I'm so grossed out and embarrassed by it. I'm thinking I should call the clinic, but don't want to if this is normal. Did this happen to anyone else? I'm also waiting on a breast check after finding a lump so I'm out of my mind with worry. I am 29.

Any advice is really appreciated.

Lia.

  • Hello Liasta,

Bleeding can occur and if you're concerned it's important to contact your doctor and make them aware. They might be able to help reduce it. I hope your next appointment goes ok and don't be afraid to ask questions if you need to.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi! Up to date I have had about six or seven cervical biopsies for high-grade dysplasia CIN3 on cervix and canal- going on year 3. The biopsy before last 5 or 6 samples were taken. One of the snips hurt more than ever before as if she punched too big of a sample. After all said and done the pain radiating from that one area never healed.. its a dull, achy, deep sometimes unbearable pain that definitely affects my mood and my daily life. To relate to you, my periods have never been the same since. They start with a lot of brown coming out of me sometimes for many many days until it becomes red.. heavier .. and I've even had one the last up to two weeks which has never happened in my life. I don't know if this is normal either they don't tell you about this or the pain I have been left with. Doctors are trying to brush that off. Actually the Doctor Who left me with this pain stopped checking up on me or communicating. I have Kaiser and I can definitely say up until today it's been the worst doctors I've ever experienced in my life.
