Worried about Microlithiasis in testicle

Hi,

Just wanting a opinion, went for a ultrasound the other day and they found microlithiasis smaller than 2mm in my left ball. Doctor and sonographer both said nothing to worry about, but after doing research I have found there are potential links to testicular cancer and infertility. I'm absolutely ridden with anxiety, and am hoping someone maybe able to give me a better answer on whether it's worth getting worked up over, and maybe if there are people here with calcifications?

  • Good morning,

I have also been doing research as I have just been told I have this in my right! Funnily enough my research lead me to your post.

From what I have gathered the findings of microlithiasis only increase your chances by about 2% it's also believed that it can be more common than anyone knows because the majority of men don't go for ultrasounds. If you take the 5% of men they have noted have it then take into account the millions of men that don't go for tests because there is no need (I'm not a doctor) but I'd guess it could be a lot higher than 5%.

The link is only made because microlithiasis is found when a tumour is found. If we look at that without our anxious minds on it would be the same as saying anyone with a mole is at risk of skin cancer. I hope you get what I mean by this.

Also take into account the people who don't worry or have microlithiasis that nothing bad happens to they aren't posting it everywhere online you will only ever see bad things when something could be linked to cancer.

just be vigilant and do checks as you normally would then if you do find anything just call up the doctors. The cure rate for TC is 98% (more like 100) without spreading and in the 80% when spread to lymph nodes. We are lucky we live in an age where it is easily dealt with.

I hope this helps ease your mind as it has mine when writing this.
