Found a mass

Hi all,

I just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar.

I'm 34 and found what I thought was a lump over a week ago, felt a change in my breast, almost like a mass. I've also had extremely itchy nipples for a few months now and not really thought anything of it. I can squeeze out a liquid, what I've always put down to breast milk from my breast too. (My daughter is two and a half now and it's been over two years since I fed her myself, due to my milk drying up from stress.) I didn't link the itchy nipples and nipple discharge to anything sinister until I found the mass and the doctor referred me to the breast clinic as a fast track, urgent case.

I'm now worried sick and frightened that I've put it off for too long (as the itchiness and discharge have been there for months) I really didn't think it was cause for concern until I found the lump.

Has anyone experienced anything similar and can offer me any reassurance?

Thank you x

    Hi Meplustwo,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear of your symptoms, but glad to hear that you are getting them investigated. It is impossible for anyone to be able to tell you how this will go. You are likely to have tests at the breast clinic which will determine the outcome. This is why your GP has referred you.

The way you are feeling is perfectly normal. We all tend to feel like this when we are waiting for a diagnosis. Don't worry unduly about having an 'urgent referral'. This is normal procedure for most of us. I do hope that your appointment comes through soon and, that all goes well for you.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
