Hard lumps in chin/neck area

Hi, looking for some advice as it's the weekend so I can't get to the doctors but I'm falling down a bit of an anxiety hole

When I tilt my head back and press into the middle of the area around where the soft bit of my chin ends and my neck begins, I can feel two quite hard lumps/nodules - not sure if I'm feeling a normal part of my neck or if I should be worried? My panicked internet research has taught me that they're in the salivary gland region so does anyone know if this is just my salivary gland I'm feeling?

I'm 24 but I smoke so now I'm getting myself worked up that it's something serious when it could be nothing, it's my fault for turning to Google for a self-diagnosis lol! Any advice would be appreciated

  • Hi RM4722,

It's hard to advise on what this could be - it may be lymph nodes that you're feeling, that can become more noticeable for example when the body is fighting an infection. However the best thing always if you have any concerns about symptoms is to speak to your GP as they are best placed to advise.

    All the best,

  • Hi RM4722,

I have a very simular issue. I have lost a lot of weight since June 4th around 30kg (intentional) but started to get anxious at the  speed of my weight loss even more so when I found the 2 lumps in the area you mention. I had a appoitment over the phone with my GP and she put me on a 2 week refurral to a hemotologist and because im already under my local hospital for arthritis and urgent follow up for that. I had my appointment with the rheumatologist on tuesday. He checked me over asked about other symptoms, drenching night sweats, rashes or any bruising or bleeding which I don't have. He said he cannot find anything concerning appart from slightly enlarged lymph nodes in the neck.

I had my appointment with my hemotogist yesturday asked me the same questions and done the same checking of my neck and other areas of the lymph nodes  she also said they are slightly enlarged. She orderd bloods and a ultra sound scan/biopsy. I had the scan yeturday also but the lady doing the scan said she has found nothing concerning and there was no need for a biopsy. I just have to wait now for my 2 week follow-up appointment for the bloods. I'm hoping it's just down to weight loss that I am now feeling these lumps and it's just normal

I also suffer from anxierty so I know what it is like. I also smoke myself.

    Chris.
