New lump in breast

Hi everyone, I am waiting for a call back after a family history screening mammogram last Tuesday because I found a lump in breast just beforehand and explained at my appointment. Technician said she saw it and I will be called back. ( I should have asked how long this could be but didn't) anyway I am curious to know if anyone has had a lump like this. It feels like the top of a Mexican hat, hollows around it then feels like bumpy tissue raising up?
that sounds stupid I know but just figured I would check with you guys as I haven't told family about this.

  • Hi Jodiekid,

I hope that you won't need to wait too long to be called back. You could if you want give your surgery a call and ask how long you might have to wait for your appointment.

Hopefully you will hear from others on the forum who have had a lump like this and they will share their experiences with you. Sometimes it is easier to talk to others on this forum than to family members as many here will understand exactly what you are going through.

Unfortunately, no one here will be able to tell you exactly what this lump is and you will have to wait for that important call back and I hope that you get some definite answers soon. All you can do in the meantime is wait which really is the hardest thing but try and keep busy and distracted if you can. Keep well away from Dr Google as it will only make you worry more and tends to give only worst case scenarios.

Everything tightly crossed for reassuring results!

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for your lovely reply Lucie,

I did manage to speak to someone in the clinic on Friday over the phone. She said my report had not been read yet but that she will chase it up for me. I am keeping busy, My life is crazy busy anyway and one concern is even finding the time to even go back for more testing. I'm trying not to think beyond that as I really have no time to be ill.

Just feel rather alone in this, and it feels like a total inconvenience to be honest.I  definitely can't talk to family as my mum has recently been diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer which has totally floored us all and I am main carer For her.

    Thank you again xxx
