Pain in mouth and throat

Hello everyone. I've had this cough for over 4 weeks now and over the past two days I've felt my throat becoming quite sore, I knew it wasn't like a sore throat because it wasn't scratchy. However there's this pain that goes from under my jaw down my throat and also over my cheeks to my ears. I've been getting really bad ear ache too!! I can barely open my mouth even just to eat or talk because of the pain! I wish I could explain it a bit better but it's rather hard. If anyone has any idea what I'm talking about please let me know I'd love to know if anyone has any idea what it is? Xxx

  • Hello HappyBunny05

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some health problems over the past few weeks. It's understandable that you're feeling worried about what these may be.

You don't mention if you've been to see your GP in your post. If you haven't then they should be the first port of call as they will be best placed to arrange any appropriate treatments or referrals. Give them a call next week if you've not already spoken with them.

I do hope that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello HappyBunny05 & Jenn,

    hope everyone is well?
I’m really interested to know how you got on? You described my symptoms, and am yet to see my GP.  Unfortunately my GP isn’t very accessible, so any help or advice would be appreciated.  Thanks

  •  Sounds like a TMJ disorder (teeth grinding, clenching, a misaligned bite etc). A dentist deals with this.

If the pain is sharp and begins with a zap of pain, trigeminal neuralgia could be a cause. You'd go to a gp about this.
