Lump above collar bone

Hi, my 22 year old son has had a 2ww referral made for a lump found just above his collar bone. GP said it felt like the shape of a finger and was about 1.5 inches long. He received an ENT appoinment today. Was a bit surprised it was ENT although didn't know which department he was being referred to. Can you explain why he's seeing an ENT consultant please? Thanks

  • Hello Allyw

I'm sorry to hear that your son has recently been referred to a specialist. It's understandable that you may be feeling anxious about what this lump is.

I'm unsure why an appointment has come through for the ENT department. The best thing would be for your son to contact his GP who will be able to clarify the referral details.

I hope that the appointment gives you all some reassuring news.

    Best wishes,
