Normal hysteroscopy and abnormal biopsy

Hello,

I was wondering whether any of you ladies have had a normal looking hysteroscopy but the womb biopsy has shown something different?

I have had a few tests over recent months for heavy and persistent bleeding (I'm 35). A TV scan showed slight thickening and posssible adenomyosis. The bleeding didn't improve so I had a hysteroscopy last week. I know all results will be different but I wondered whether anyone could have abnormal biopsy results despite things looking ok on the hysteroscopy?

Hoping the biopsy can formally diagnose adenomyosis and or endometriosis.

Thank you.

  • Hello Lindsay Sunshine

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some health concerns recently. We know that waiting for test results can be a difficult time and it's natural to be concerned about what the biopsy results may show.

Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for the results and the news will bring you some reassurance. If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Lindsay I had a hysteroscopy on the 20th October after a 11mm lining was discovered  my results took 4 weeks to come back but very relieved no cancer was found , I had got myself into such a state I've barely slept and had to go on the sick for anxiety and high blood pressure

i was referred due to a bleed a year after my periods had stopped but prior to them stopping I was so heavy I should have gone then

I hope you get good news also the waiting is awful xxx

  • Hi how did you get on? I was told everything was fine On the day but 2.5 weeks down the line I'm still waiting on results. I'm going insane with anxiety not eating or sleeping very well. X

  • Hi huni I am so very sorry you are going through this. Five weeks ago I had a hysteroscopy and biopsy done. The doctor was very pleased at the look of my womb and two weeks later I received a letter stating he was happy with everything and even if the pipeline biopsy comes back inadequate he will be happy to discharge me- happy days . Well 4weeks and 5 days later I get a call from the same gynaecologist to tell me my biopsy came back with cancer, he was very surprised- I was in shock- he told me he can’t understand it maybe it’s another cancer and bla bla bla my head was gone.he said I need an urgent hysteroscopy and I asked ok if I have cancer what will happen next. He said an mri and a hysterectomy. After the phone call all the questions was coming to mind and what the hell was that. The following day I tried3 different hospitals to talk about it but it’s the bank holiday weekend and I got nowhere. I have got the hysteroscopy Tuesday morning. I have so many questions- so is it definitely cancer?- after what my letter said- what was the different cancer comment? I had a scare last year with a ca 125 test result over hundred- did they miss it? I just have no clue and it’s been awful - and Google is not my friend, so as to your question huni- I know how you feel xx
