Armpit lump

Hi everyone, yesterday morning when I got dressed I noticed a large lump in my armpit, rang gp and there was no appointments so went to the walk in centre. The gp dismissed this and told me I've pulled a muscle. Thing is, how likely is it to have pulled a muscle from sleeping. It's a hard lump that can't move. I'm also a lot more tired and less appetite (I get hungry but then full very quickly). Wanting to hear some other peoples stories, he also then told me to ring gp this morning for a referral to ultrasound thanks!!!

  • Hello Doglover03

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently found a lump. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about this.

We would recommend that anyone who has concerns about a lump speaks with their GP. As you've already seen a Dr at the walk-in centre who advised you to contact your GP to request an ultrasound you may have already contacted the surgery again. If not do give them a call next week and explain the situation.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for some answers about what this lump may be.

    Best wishes,

    Hi Doglover,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I totally agree with Jenn's advice. I am glad to hear that the doctor that you saw at the walk in centre advised you to get an ultrasound scan done. The only way to be absolutely certain that all is clear, is to have some scans done, then to possibly follow these by a biopsy.

I know that this is a worrying time, so I hope that you get your scan soon. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi everyone, I went to the gp yesterday. He was really rude and said there was nothing wrong with me it was all in my head. It's a 5cm very visible thing under my armpit. He won't do any further investigation because he said he can't see anything. So now I guess I just have to carry on and hopefully it disappears, thanks guys!

    Hi Doglover,

This is totally unacceptable, when you have already been advised to have a scan. Is there another doctor in your practice who you can see for another opinion? Here's hoping that they will be more sympathetic.

Please let us know how you get on. Remember we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
