Cant help thinking the worst.

Hey,

First time posting somewhere like this and its a little new to me. Basically, I have had the typical symptoms of Ovarian cancer since March 2021, Lower back pain, bloating, painful pelvic area, very painful "popping" sensation, weeing alot, extremely tired with no energy whats so ever, breathlessness and no periods for 6 months then, bam! from September to now 3 weeks of bleeding and pain. GP referred me to Physio for back pain -6 weeks later Physio referred me to Gyno for pelvic pain and now waiting for blood test results. Had numerous internal examinations, prodding and poking but still nothing. Cant help thinking the worst.

To be honest I hadnt even thought of Ovarian cancer until the doctor said she was running a cancer blood test on me. I thought it was the onset of the menopause or something like that.

any advice out there to calm me down?

  • Hello TBird59,

Try not to think the worst as there are so many things it could be other than ovarian cancer. Your doctor probably requested a CA125 test but this is done routinely when someone has the type of symptoms you describe and having raised levels does not automatically mean it is cancer.

I know it's really hard but try not to anticipate what it may be and avoid looking anything up online as this will only bring up worst case scenarios. There are so many things it could be other than ovarian cancer so try not to fear the worst. The best thing to do really to feel calmer about things is to keep busy and distracted if you can, staying well away from Dr Google. I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
