                                         the honest answer is that any answer other than awaiting the results of the colonscopy is like waving a wet finger in the wind.Of course you already know that,but understanderbly just do not want it to be so with the anxiety of the wait.There are a good many conditions of the bowel that could cause your husbands symptoms,and although your mind will be rushing to the thought that its a family trait,it could also point to the inherited trait being a propensity to suffer from bowel problems,rather than just cancer.

                   speaking as a stage 4 bowel survivor,l had none of the symptoms you describe,so it is previous to read too much into these at this stage,one thing l can guarentee is that if like me,stress goes to your bowel,overworrying will make it a whole lot worse between here and then,so please try to stay calm,nothing much will change over two weeks,

My dad was diagnosed with stage 3/4 bowel cancer and like yourself  had no symptoms apart from feeling of incomplete evacuation after usuing the loo. 
i however have all the symptoms of it including bleeding, and I'm awaiting a colonoscopy on Thursday. 
When your husband goes to the toilet how much blood is he seeing? Has he been examined by a doctor to rule out piles, I sadly have these as does my mum and they can cause loads of issues I'm guessing I've got that from my mum poor me. 
has your husband had bloods or a fit test or calprotecin test? These can determine if he's anemic, if there is inflammation in the bowel or in the body or blood in his stool. He really needs to see the doctor to rule out or confirm anything. 
many anxiety is through the roof about it, so if he's reluctant to ask for help I can sympathise completely but it does need to be checked out.
