  • Hello ekb2003

I'm so sorry to hear that you've recently found a new lump having not long ago finished treatment for TNBC. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about what this new lump may be. Hopefully, the appointment that you have arranged will bring some positive news and reassurance.

We know that waiting for appointments can be a difficult time. Can I suggest that you give our team of nurses a call to talk things through with them? I'm sure they will be able to offer some information and support ahead of your appointment. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Although I know it is far easier said than done, try to take each day at a time and not look too far ahead. Keep in touch here on the forum and let us know how you're getting on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Emma,

Sorry to read you've discovered another lump. I too finished my main treatment in July (chemo first, lumpectomy and 10 radiotherapy sessions) and now on Herceptin as mine was HER2 fuelled. I had a new lump detected while I was having a check up at the end of August. Biopsy came back clear, however, I then had to go through the whole thing again three weeks later as the radiographers were convinced from the images that it was malignant. Second biopsy followed and thankfully the results returned back completely normal cells again. Since the first biopsy I developed a big lump near my SNB scar which was offputting, and it is still there, but reducing now.

I was convinced from the start that it was back, and was a mess - however my oncologist was certain it was my hormones kicking in (periods returned mid-July). I'm keeping everything crossed for you that it's all fine, and you get your results quickly. It really could be anything (fat necrosis can sometimes be indistinguishable to tumours, even on ultrasound). I know I had trouble coping while waiting (even more than my original diagnosis!), but I was also grateful that we can be seen quickly if needed, and don't need to go through the whole referral process again and your team will do everything to get you properly checked and seen to.

Let us know how you get on. Will be thinking of you.

  • Hi

unfortunately I've had to go back through the 2 week wait and have appointment on the 2nd November!!

my periods stopped during chemo and recent bloods tel me I'm well into menopause now so don't expect them to return.

im not panicking as I don't see the point it won't change the outcome will it and is just a waste of my energy right now so I'm staying optimistic as much as I can.

    thanks for the replies
