Armpit lump

Hello,

In July I started experiencing daily headaches in one spot on the right side of my head that start the moment I sit up in bed, weakness and nerve pain in my right arm and leg, fatigue, dizziness, nausea & forgetfulness. I got an appointment with the practice nurse after about 4 weeks of the headache starting and asked if they could check my B12 and hormone levels, I have a condition called Autoimmune Progesterone Dermatitis which despite the name effects a lot more than my skin and if my hormones are out of whack, it can cause all sorts of issues. Had the blood tests and a follow up (face to face) with my GP 3 days later who said my blood tests were fine but he was concerned I was showing red flag symptoms for a few things and he wanted me to have an urgent MRI of my brain to rule out any tumours, cysts, bleeds etc. I had my MRI and waited for the report to come back and called to chase this after 2 weeks to be told it was clear so I asked for a follow up appointment as I am still having the same issues and more. About 3 weeks ago I noticed my right breast had gotten bigger and tender, didn’t think much of it but then I was driving and got the feeling of ‘let down’ in my right breast which was odd as I haven’t breastfed for 2 years and have never had that feeling when not breast feeding. I am now getting that feeling once a day at least and have noticed a milky discharge. On Saturday I was showering and noticed a lump in my right armpit, I got out of the shower and checked in the mirror and there was a visible lump about 1.5cm wide and it feels quite deep, my armpit also looks swollen. Since the lump came out the numbness and pain in my upper arm was gotten worse and my armpit feels ‘full’ if that makes sense. I’m not normally one to panic but the fact most of my symptoms are all one side has gotten me worried now. I did have a lump just above my armpit last year but the look and feel of it was completely different to my current one. I did have that one removed, and the biopsy confirmed it was dermatitis! I have a telephone appointment with my GP tomorrow as a follow up from my MRI so I will tell him about the lump and breast issues. I know that the likely hood is it is just a cyst I just wondered if anyone else has had a similar symptom’s

  • Hello Laura742

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some ongoing health problems. I hope that the phone call you were due to have with your GP today brought some answers and reassurance about things and that you mentioned your concerns about the breast lump to them.

It's natural to feel worried about what may be going on. It sounds as if your GP is being thorough in getting things checked and I hope that you get some answers soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks for your reply Jean. I had my phone call today and have a face to face appointment tomorrow so he can have a look at the lump. Just hope I get some answers soon, the lump has thrown me a bit but I know the likely hood is it's something and nothing
