Am I too young ?

Early 2020 I started bleeding while going to toilet and have always suffered with bolating in my lower stomach and cramps. Went to the docs about it and had a camera half way up my *** (like not a full colonoscopy) and the women just said I was constipated. But it's now been nearly two years since I started bleeding while going to the toilet. (Pooing)
I've always believed that my bloating and cramps/stomach pain was to do with my period but now I'm not to sure. but because I'm only 19 & I'm scared that the docs might not take it seriously again, since the doc who did the colonoscopy just ignored me when telling her my symptoms. But at the same time I really don't wanna go through all that again since I suffers anxiety.
just looking for some support on what I should do ?

  • I am 29 and had stomach issues for around 5 years but 18 months ago I had 4 episodes of large amounts of bleeding with done clots, I went to the doctors abd was told I had piles and not to worry although I was quite unwell at the time, luckily I didn't experience any more bleeding to this degree so I'm hoping it was just a flare up of pikes, however my stomach issues returned with a vengeance about a month ago and was rushed to AE 4 times but each time nothing coukd be found, plus I had another episode of bleeding but only on the toilet tissue.
at your age cancer is highly unlikely but not impossible I've been refered for a colonoscopy now finally and my consultatant said any bee recall bleeding should be investigated.
please go back to your gp snd ask for further tests, evdn if it is just piles and they're causing you to bleed they need to be a dressed.
what sort of bleeding are you experiencing a small amount on the tissue or in the toilet bowl? At your age it could be some type of ibd, and I'm hoping to god that's what I have too x

  • God what you've written I relate to so much. Please keep going back to your doctors until your health issues have been dealt with. I'm 23 and have had Bowel cancer twice. My own GP told me when I first started getting symptoms to not google them cus it would say Bowel cancer and I'm too young. THREE YEARS LATER I finally end up being diagnosed but by then things had progressed. Please keep going back, I wish I could go back in time and kick up more of a fuss x

  • Hi there

Im sorry to hear of what your going tbrough.  If you dont mind me asking, does your bowel issues link to your period?

I suffer from endometriosis and your symptoms could link with this condition.  Endo is when cells similar to the womb lining grow outside the womb.  It doesnt show on scans and takes on average 7 years for diagnosis for this reason.  Endo can affect ofgans, the bowel includ ed.  Ive actually just posted asking for advice which you can read.

endometriosis UK is the charity for th e condition and gives ways of seeking help, the best wag is asking your GP to refer you to gynaecology specialist or if you are under consultant for bowel problems ask them to refer you.

good lu ck and i hope your sy mptoms are addressed soon. Please feel free to contact me wit h any questions.

  • I've been sent to A&E and they thought I had piles but I didn't, and then when they didn't find anything with the half colonoscopy, she just diagnosed me with constipation... but I've started bleeding a lot more when only going to toilet. The whole toilet and water would be filled with the blood, but only bright red. But it's not painful and I'm only bleeding when going to toilet. Yhe bleeding has definitely become a lot more since last year.

  • Yh, before lockdown in March, I was in progression on having a diagnosis for ending since I have such heavy periods and have camps on and off my periods. My bloating is horrible, always bloated, and the blood cloths I get during my period too are horrible.

But I have read that bloating could relate to my bleeding from my bowel and also the cramps I have been experiencing. But I don't know, because when we hit lockdown the endo people just told me to go on the injection in my *** for birth control. I never did.

  • Really !

Thank you. I mean, I'm sorry I had to go through this but it's nice to know that I'm not super overthinking things. I just wanna double check before going back because I hate needles and having that colonoscopy has given my PTSD. And of course, first things first, im really young but during lockdown that girl who was 18 die from it and then read again about a man who wanted to the see doctors they didn't and he tried again when they did see him it was too late he only had 3 months left.

but I will call the doctors tomorrow and try and stand up for myself. I have photos anyway since they ask for that.

But thank you for help and advice. X I will keep updated with how things are going. XoX

  • Have you had any boood tests done? Are you anemic or anything like that. What about a stool sample have you done one? At your age it's more likely to be chrons/colitis/ibd endometriosis or something like that then cancer? I'd say coupled with the pain as well but your go needs to be more proactive about sending you for tests x

  • I don't think ive had an updated blood test, ive had a stool sample done, and I don't think im anemic, but ive always been super tired anyway, so might bring that up to the doc.

But okay, thank you. I will ! X
