Hysteroscopy under GA but not confirmed 1st Biopsy results

Hi,

I've just joined today as wondering if anyone has been in the same boat...

Have had 2 x pmb's in three months. 2nd scan showed lining was 10.7mm and new cyst on ovary(1st scan was 5.2mm 3 months ago with no cyst). Urgently referred to Gyn Oncologist.

Urgent CA125 ordered which came back normal at 8.

Appointment organised with Oncolgist team to discuss Hysteroscopy under GA and sign forms. When I got there they wanted to take office Biopsy which I wasn't prepared for (no painkillers taken) but agreed to go ahead.

I have not been able to get clarity on the result of this since. Follow up letter to myself and the Doctor a week later also avoided disclosing the result.

Pre surgery appt organised 5 days before. Thought I was having a routine blood test like I did previously for the CA125 test. Turned out to be a blood draw uncuffed and they took about 6 vials of blood...

Had Hysteroscopy on Monday under GA. About half hour before I went down it was suggested I have Mirena coil fitted to control the thickness of the lining. I was a bit overwhelmed as nervous about the Op, hadn't done any research about the coil and still didn't know1st Biopsy result. Relectantly agreed to have it done.

After the Op I was told that biopsies were done and not expecting an abnormal result but 'never say never'.

Results will be back within two weeks. Told I would be written to but later on told by another nurse they would call me.

What concerns me is the secrecy of the 1st Biopsy result taken 3 weeks ago. I now know the Mirena is used as a treatment for early stage and worried they are being economical with the truth.

Has anyone else been in this situation and if so, what was the outcome?

Thanks in advance : )

  • Hi Julesh69,

I understand your situation as Its happening to me at the mo.

I have been having pain, loss weight, nausea, heavy bleeding.  I had ultrasound and thought everything was ok.  Went on holiday and 3 days in my daughter rung and said I had a letter from hospital.  I asked her to open it and was told I had an urgent referral for the week after.  I didn't know what it was.

when I attended hospital they said my lining was 26 mm and that I needed a hysterscopy there and then and a biopsy.  Was not given any pain relief, it was the most unbearable pain ever.  After the procedure was over I was told I had to wait 6 -8 weeks!!!   All the rush and worry and then wait for 2 months it's so cruel.

it will be 3 weeks on Tuesday, seems like forever x

  • Hi Shellie70,

Thanks for your reply and apologies for my delayed response...

Sorry to hear of your situation. They should at least have warned you to take some pain killers before the Hysterocopy procedure.

When I had my first Hysterocopy a few months back, they told me to take Ibuprofen an hour before the procedure and I was also given a local. It still hurt like hell though because my Cervix is tiny and tilted, plus I have scarring from previous Letz procedure...

6-8 weeks seems a very long time to wait, even for a benign condition. Hopefully you will hear sooner than this and they've just given you the worst case scenario.

I'm crawling up the walls after 1 week and cannot concentrate on my work, so can't imagine how you must be feeling...

Keep me posted on how you get on - Fingers crossed for you it's all ok x
