Lumps

Hi,

im wondering if anyone can help me or just share some positive stories with me. I feel like I am going crazy with worry.

on holiday in mid august I noticed a lump on my neck when I was putting my hair up. The lump is a bit larger than a pea and maybe a baked bea size Is hard and painless. You can see it on my neck. I went to the GP who told me it was a cyst after sending a photo of it. but after a week I asked for a second opinion and to be examined. Second GP said he was certain it was a lymph node and asked about a range of symptoms ( tiredness, bleeding, weight loss, night sweat) I had none. He said to call back in 6-8 weeks to check in and see if anything had changed.

this made me be more aware and I have been checking for lumps. 2 week later I found a lump in my right breast and noticed the breast is larger and looks slightly swollen. I was examined and the GP told me I would be referred for a scan and would hear in 2 weeks.

2 weeks came and went and I chased up the referral and was just told there are back logs, I did this 3 times. On my third chase 5 weeks later a Dr called me back to tell me that the Dr I saw accidentally sent the referral back to herself not the hospital so I hadn't actually been referred. I was in shock!

This was last week and I am yet to receive any communication about a scan.

this morning I have found 2 new lumps in my armpit which are very similar to the lump in my neck. All the lumps I have are on my right side.

i also have a tender spot on my chest near my collar bone. No lump that I can feel but it feels like a bruise when I press it. That has been there since I found the first lump on holiday. Could be nothing but seems strange to me that came at the same time and hadn't gone yet.

I don't know what to do or who to chase about my appointment. I feel like I have called so many times and just been fobbed off constantly. I don't really know why I am posting this, maybe to reassure myself I am not mad to be worried and just get it off my chest!!!!

  • Hello Jadeeyj

I'm sorry to hear about the ongoing health concerns that you're dealing with and that there have been some delays in getting your appointment sorted. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about the delays.

I'd suggest in the first instance letting your GP know about the new lumps that you have in your armpit. They may want to pass this information on to the department that has your referral. If you've not already done so then you could contact the department and ask if they have a cancellation list. If you're able to attend an appointment at short notice then this may mean you're seen sooner.

We know that waiting for tests and results can be a difficult time for many people. Often it can help to talk things through. If you'd like to chat with one of our nurses for some support you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I do hope that your appointment is arranged soon and that the results bring some reassurance.

    Best wishes,
