Hi had colonoscopy today and no sign of anything nasty .... thankfully .....does anyone know how common it is to get false positive and when my over 60 screening FIT test comes should I go ahead with it .....thanks in advance x
I am no expert, but as far as I know, many things can cause a positive FIT test. It's a test for blood in the stool, not for cancer or any other specific disease. So I think things like hemorrhoids can lead to it being positive and as far as I know, the majority of positive FIT tests are not due to cancer.
I don't see that going ahead with the screening would do any harm, but again, I'm no expert.
