I am almost the same age as you and have had many of the same symptoms I had quite severe bleeding from the back passage 18 months ago but bloods and fit test came back okay. However I am still having issues and have paid to have these investigations done privately so irs good that your doctor is taking it seriously. My treatment is going to cost in excess of £2000 as my gp is useless. 
liads of people however how have positive fit test but cheat colonoscopy so please don't worry too much x

glad you've been able to go privately for the investigations. for years I've had doctors tell me it was just ibs but since moving to a more rural area I've found my gp to be brilliant to be honest. she's gone down every avenue to rule things out. First gp I've seen thats said you deffinalty don't get bleeding with ibs.  glad to hear. I've never really had health issues and we just started trying for a baby so it's all hit at the wrong time. think brain isn't taking much of it in. hope everything goes well for you too!  I'm dreading the laxatives more ;) 

thank you, its been a year now with bleeding 4+ times a week between full blown diarhheoa to constipation or just loose. very rarely does it feel normal. 

I've lost a stone in roughly 8-10 weeks, so far we've got nowhere so hoping the colonoscopy can show whatever it is making it happen. 

doctor seemed quite surprised the fit came back positive. to be honest I'm happy I'm finally getting some answers regardless I think it's just that the phrase " we are looking to make sure its not bowel cancer" sticks more than any of the other info. 

I actually went back to my gp and saw a different doctor as was very disappointing to be having to have this done private, he decided that I did fit the criteria and was really nice, he has refered me for an urgent colonoscopy. I also realised I'd not done a fit test before just a calprotecin test. Honestly I'm terrified genuinely have every symptom of bowel cancer and a family history of it x

me too! I'm not terrified because I think you can very easily wind your self up. it's in the back of my head. I'm now working on the basis of preparing my self to hear those words if that's even a thing and anything less is amazing. I've just found that my grandad actually died of colon cancer which I was unaware of so that sent the blood pressure up a little earlier. however its not like anything g can be changed. were on the right path and everything than can be done, will be done. I'm sat more regretting not having kids sooner as we had only just started trying g 

If you don't mind me asking what did your bloods come back like? Are you anemic or anything? I'm surprised your doctor has mentioned cancer because it wasn't mentioned to me although I'm well aware what the 2 week cancer pathway is for x

In response to the situation with your grandfather, a doctor asked me if there was a family history of colon cancer and I said my grandfather may have died of it - we don't know for sure as he died before I was born - and the doctor said that was too far back to be relevant and were there any closer cases? Of course, every situation is different but that was the response I got.

my bloods all came back clear. very minor reading on liver function but nothing to be concerned about. previously I had a vitamin d defficancy but that was resolved with some supplements. other than that bloods have all been clear. I think that cancer was mentioned due to a positive fit test :)
