Ovarian neoplasm biopsy

I had a pelvic ultrasound a year ago and I had a slightly complex cyst in my left ovary with thin septation and there was no follow-up advised. I also have fibroids.

I've had lower pelvic pain daily with lower back pain while excersicing for a few months. I went in for a physical and told my doctor and she ordered another pelvic ultrasound. I received the ultrasound results and it recommended a biopsy of my left ovary. Now they are calling it a ovarian neoplasm that has nodules and is septated 3mm. Hopefully the biopsy will come back benign. I go to the OBGYN on Monday.

  • Hi Elizabeth30,

I can imagine this must be unsettling, but at least it should mean you get some answers before too long.

I hope that the appointment goes OK today and that you find out more soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • I have complex cysts on both overies 5cm and 3 cm as they have not resolved or shrunk l am having the overies and tubes excised plus biopsies on Saturday 16 Oct at my age l shouldn't have ovarian cysts, so hoping that they are benign . To get to this stage l have had ultrasound ,ct scan and mri scan. I do get pain on the left side.

I hope you have answers soon it's  the not knowing that gives you time to be worried.
    take care

  • I hope that everything comes back benign. Good luck with your surgery!

The GYN didn't seem worried. I'm going to have a hysterectomy for fibroids and she's going to remove the complex cyst for biopsy and keep the ovaries. I'm at peri-menopause age 49.

  • I had a hysterectomy at 37 now 67 so overies no longer needed being removed as they can become cancerous, goodness knows how long lve had these cysts I've had pain on left side for ages.
I hope your cysts prove ok

l was much better after hysterectomy periods had been awful. It did take a while to get back to normal but well wor5h the wait.
