Being Called in For Biopsy Results

Hi, I had moles removed from my scalp.  They changed from pinkish brown to black in a matter of four weeks and grew.

They were removed 5 weeks ago and I got a letter today asking me to go to outpatients appointment in 2 weeks.

I am worried as some years ago I had a mole removed and I got results saying it was fine via letter.

So does being called in mean that something was found?  My stress levels are through the roof.

  • Hi,

You can't really tell because many consultants prefer to give news, good or bad, face to face. Only 5% of moles checked by dermatology are found to be malignant but 20% are dysplastic (precancerous) and they like to check any other moles which may also look dysplastic.

So I'm afraid it's best to try not to read too much into this letter and to distract yourself to try and keep your mind off it for the moment. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
