Two lumps in breast and 6 week old baby

Hi everyone.
I recently found a lump in my breast and when I went to the doctor she found another one. I'm currently breastfeeding but she said it isn't mastitis or a blocked duct. I'm beside myself with worry as I had noticed the breast in question get slightly larger over the last few years. I've also had dull aches in that breast but put it down to back pain on my right side due to poor posture - I'm having a hard time while I wait for my appointment and have myself questioning if I have cancer that's spread  (considering the back pain)

any advice or reassurance would be great.

  • Hello Gigi_advice

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently found a breast lump, especially at a time when you should be concentrating on getting to know your new baby and enjoying motherhood. It's understandably a difficult time for you.

It's good to hear that you've already seen your GP and that you've been referred to get this checkout out. It may help to know that the large majority of people referred to breast clinic are not diagnosed with cancer so try to take things a day at a time and stay positive.

We know that waiting for appointments and tests can be a difficult time. It can often help to talk things through and I wonder if you'd find it beneficial to chat with our team of nurses. I'm sure they would be happy to offer andy advice, information, and support that they can to help p ahead of your appointment. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hey,

    hope you're ok?

Just want to let you know my mum found a lump in her breast when my sister was a baby.

turned out to be a cyst that had just grown a bit to big.
It wasn't cancerous and they took it out. Never had a problem since.

I had a breast examination at the breast clinic earlier this year as I found my left breast was hurting and feeling very warm and other things. They checked me and scanned in me within half hour. And my appointment time was less than weeks wait.

Let us know how you get on, and really hope the outcome is good news for you x
