It is EXTREMELY rare for a lletz treatment to have any effect on orgasm, as it is simply removing a layer of cells from the cervix. CIN3 is the most serious form of cell abnormality and really does need to be treated, as there is the possibility of this becoming cancer. If you were to avoid the treatment and then developed cancer, I can assure you that orgasms would not take priority in your life. I can have orgasms without a cervix at all, so please be reassured that having the treatment would be the best thing to do. You may read a lot of horror stories online, but bear in mind that you should take these with a very large pinch of salt! I have seen, on another forum, a man masquerading as a woman telling people not to have the treatment and this kind of thing is more common that you might think. There are crazy people who lie out there! You will be taking a serious risk with your health if you don’t have the treatment, and treatment for cervical cancer is WAY tougher than a straightforward procedure to remove abnormal cells, as I know too well.

I think I just needed the reality to be spelled out by anyone who has gone through it with no other place to to find a really informative perspective. It may have seemed trivial to have these thoughts but the lack of information regarding this stage of earlu stage proceduers and options available I felt at a loss to know realistically assess all sides of the information for precautionary measures. So again thank you very much. 

It's also very scary that men would masquerade as women who have genuine fears or would like genuine informative discussions. 

I feel like we talk about smears with others or people talk about cancers and the very real outcomes that can occur but we do t really talk to each other about the in-between stages where decisions have to be made that can be life impacting.

Hi Roro! I hope your procedure and recovery went well!

I just saw your post. I got diagnosed with cin3 two weeks ago. I'm waiting for the date for my Lletz procedure. I have been quite scared but slowly feeling better now about having it... But I really get your doubts, I have had plenty myself.

I would like to ask you a question about healing after the procedure, since I understand you have done it already. It says not to insert anything in the vagina for at least 4 weeks, and not having sex. Do you know if it's talking about sex in general (due to contractions during orgasm, etc.) or vaginal penetration exclusively?

The first few days I felt just slightly cramps, with minor discharge. After about a week I felt like it was fine for anything non penetrative. But waited 4 weeks for anything penetrative. But I have to say my cycle was  bit off after for the first month. 

I the procedure wasn't much painful, but I found the staff while being caring, and knew I didn't want to talk through it even though thy thought it would be  distraction, pushed queries about other health concerns and rushed me out of there which just wasn't what I needed at the time. Ireland based health medical care if need to note location.

I was hoping you can help me since it’s been more than a year you had a the LLETZ treatment. I’m going through a lot emotionally from my experience yesterday. 

I started getting CNI1 in my smear 5 years ago. Doctors generally say its a virus and clears up on it own but it didn’t in 3 years in fact went from CNI1 to CNI2. I was very sacred so opted for LOOP l/LLETZ surgery last year in May 2022. I recovered really well and was no bleeding after surgery. No change in vaginal discharge and periods or period pain. I forgot about it until now.
Had sex for the first time after 1.5 years after the surgery yesterday. I was screaming in pain as soon as he penetrated, I was literally digging my nails in his arms. He stopped in a couple of minutes as soon as he saw a lot of fresh blood. I had no pleasure no orgasm nor him. Lets just say I was devastated and traumatised from the pain and realising that I will never have pleasure from sex. Never felt this kind of pain before during sex. Post-sex it’s not painful but I feel bruised inside and very light bleeding after 10 hours of sex and mild pink discharge now after a day. 
since you had concerns about sex and orgasm what has been your experience, has it all been as usual?

hope you’re doing well and the recovery is good after the LLETZ procedure.

I think my experience six months ago was horrible and I later on and found out when I saw my GP that it wasn’t me or the procedure. It was the person who couldn’t be patient with me. I was having sex after 5 1/2 years and I was very conscious but the person I had it with was a selfish person and only cared about his own pleasure.

I am with an amazing person now and sex is absolutely great, although I still struggle with orgasm but that could be just me feeling conscious.
