Prolonged vaginal bleeding

Hi don't know if anyone can shed some light.

I've been taking desogesteral mini pill for nearly 2 years all has been ok apart from some bleeding at the start. Over the last 6 months I've experienced prolonged bleeding of 20 plus days. This time it started on the 16th of September and isn't letting up. I have alot of black blood full of tissue and clots. It's not always heavy but it's always there. I've been tested for STI and BV all clear. Cervix looks ok too. Although 3 years ago I did have lletz treatment for CIN 3.

Has anyone else experienced this? My Dr has finally agreed to refer for an ultrasound however that atleast 6 weeks. I was told by the family planning clinic I can double up on my pill for a month but I'm dubious of this. My Dr also has just prescribed me a different mini pill noriday but again I'm apprehensive and don't want to make it any worse. I'm fed up and absolutely drained from the constant bleeding

  • Have been through the prolonged bleeding which was a nuisance.  I was driving across the USA with 8 year old son checking out the next stopping point in the next 50 miles so I could go to the loo and change tampons and pads.  Finally found a gynaecology hospital and went in to check it telling them I had a uterine haemmhorage.  Was greeted by 'How are you going to pay?'  Therefore (with a bit of acting) I was feeling faint and had to have a chair immediately! I was eventually seen by a doctor who did not believe me but agreed to examine me.  I was highly amused when he shrieked 'Nurse, a bucket, quick' as blood gushed at him!  He did put me on a pill (forget which) which I knew made me sick, but as he pointed out, did I want stuff coming out of the top or the bottom!  I accepted the pill and the bleeding cleared up.  Back in England again I was not believed until a blood count was done and was then sent pronto for a check up at the nearest hospital.  This was all 33 years ago.  Since then I have got older, past menopause and was surprised to have a period.  I should have checked up on it before getting guts ache which turned out to be cancer.  Maybe you should ask to have a scan just to check out what your innards are like.

  • I'm so sorry to hear you have cancer. I hope everything goes well with your treatment.

I am waiting for a scan app to come through so hopefully that will be soon and shed some light on the situation
