I am sorry to hear about your worries. We always advise people not to google anything until they know what they're dealing with, as you'll only scare yourself more. Much of the information you'll find is poorly researched, out of date and aimed at the more spectacular cases. Not all lumps are cancerous. Many are benign cysts or fibrous changes. 

You have done the right thing in getting this checked out. Only 1 person in 8 who is referred to the breast clinic will get a cancer diagnosis and the younger you are the better your chances. Unfortunately, it is impossible to tell you what this could be until you are examined and have the necessary tests.

Hi Blake,

I am not a doctor but as far as I am aware. A smooth moveable lesion is the better sign. A firmly fixed, craggy edged lesion is more likely to be cancerous.

I'm 22 in the exact same position as you! I discovered my first lump (only small, smooth and moveable in late 2019 - we put that down as a fibroadenoma from physical examination). However my anxiety is sky high as there's been a lot of progression since. The same breast is now very much taken over by what feels like a very large lump. It has weird edges towards the top end and I get consistent shooting pains in the affected area. It's very very solid but slightly moveable (very uncomfortable to budge though). The tissue towards the outside feels quite dense compared to before - I can't really access/feel the lump as well on that side because of it. I have to lie down to feel the whole thing. I used to be very symmetrical but now this one is drooping downwards slightly. I'm really worried as I've constantly been told I'm fine because of my age but in my eyes all lumps, especially growing ones, should be investigated. It's taken literally years but I'm finally seeing my hospital next week for a breast consultation which will hopefully give some answers.

I have no idea what to think at this point after being constantly turned down, I'm very worried and I always remind myself I could very well be worrying over a really big fibroadenoma which would be the best case scenario. But then my gut just doesn't feel good about it. I paid for a private ultrasound in april which didn't give many answers as the technician only stuck to one area which wasn't showing anything even though she could feel a lump. But then when she ventured away from it slightly there were black masses which I saw her pause and look at but she didn't say anything about them. She told me she wasn't worried. So again I'm so lost and confused with what to think but hopefully the situation will be clearer in a week

I am glad to hear that you have at last been referred to the breast clinic. As a young person it can be difficult to be taken seriously and, I agree with you that all changes should be investigated. I do hope that there is nothing sinister present.
