Feel lost and unsure what's going on..

Hiya Everyone,

Just looking for any help or advice here.  I went to my GP after feeling quite unwell for a long time with terrible back pain, bloated stomach (went up a size in clothes!)  although didn't seem to be eating as much as I used to but gaining weight, I had constipation, and abnormal bleeding after intercourse twice.  I am in my fifties and previously not had any periods for months.  I began to worry my symptoms seemed to be similar to that of ovarian cancer and I I phoned my GP who did a pelvic exam a few weeks ago.  My GP then referred me for a US scan and blood tests.  My blood tests CA125 came back quite high and the scan showed a hemorrhagic cyst. I was fast tracked to Gynae appt and was told that my ovaries all look fine and it was probably a period at the time of the scan and it was probably an unfertilised egg not a cyst??  The Gynae then did a colposcopy and took a biopsy.  They said that they would repeat my blood tests in 6 weeks time but I am so worried that they are just dismissing me without offering me another scan and leaving me to wait to check my bloods etc

I am becoming really anxious and wonder if I should go back to GP or ask for a second opinion as my GP even said at the time of the phone call that it was 'suspected cancer' referral due to cyst and the blood tests being as they were? I am totally lost as to what to do next and wonder if anyone has been in the same posotion and how they dealt with it.  Sorry for the long winded post but I am just worrying myself and becoming anxious as what I should do next as they also seem to think at the gynae that it could be my diverticulitis playing up?

So worried and any help from you lovely ladies on here would be so much appreciated xx

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some health concerns recently. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things.

It's good to hear that you've already been seen by the specialist and that at this point none of the tests that you've had have raised any immediate cause for concerns.

From posts that I've read here on the forum, it's not uncommon for people to be given follow-up appointments a few weeks or indeed months after their initial appointment if the Consultants. However, we know that this can leave many people feeling worried during the period of waiting.

There's no harm in getting in touch with your GP and raising your concerns with them. They will be best placed to answer some of your questions however if you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I do hope that you have some answers and reassurance soon.

    Best wishes,
