Been referred for breast clinic

Couple of weeks ago I was suffering with chest pain and left arm pain. Was told to go to a&e by GP - which I did. One of my blood tests (d-dimer) came back elevated. They then did a angio CT to rule out a pulmonary embolism. PE ruled out and I was sent home.

Pain hasn't gone away so I went to see my GP about a lump at the very top of my left breast. GP referred me for breast clinic and I've got my appointment on Monday.

Since my appointment I've realised nearly all my lymph nodes are swollen. First noticed this lump last year I think during lock down. I struggle with memory loss- and I simply forgot about it. I've been having night sweats and I've lost two stone without trying.

I'm worried I've left it too late.

  • Hello Bumps88,

A warm welcome to Cancer Chat. I just wanted to wish you the very best of luck for your breast clinic appointment tomorrow and thought I would share with you this page from Breast Cancer Now on what to expect from a breast clinic appointment. I hope it all goes well but don't automatically assume the worst as so many lumps that are referred to the breast clinic don't turn out to be cancer. So fingers crossed for you tomorrow that everything goes well and that it turns out to be nothing of concern.

It's worth telling them tomorrow that nearly all your lymph nodes are swollen and that you first noticed this lump last year. Do bring up the fact that you have been having night sweats and that you have lost weight without trying as these are things they will want to know about.

I hope all goes well for you tomorrow!

    Best wishes,
